The exhibition catalog offers a differentiated view of the 1950s in the West German art scene, which was characterized by the transition from figuration to abstraction. By juxtaposing the three most important artist groups “Zen49”, “Junger Westen” and “Quadriga” with a total of 74 works by twenty artists, the formal and colorful diversity of abstract art of this decade as well as the transition to the “ZERO” movement and object art is illuminated.
